How to Load and Run a Calypso Program
- Download or save the Zip file, according to the instructions you received in your email. The default place to save Calypso programs is C:\Users\Public\Documents\Zeiss\CALYPSO 7.6\workarea\inspections (version number will vary). However, your system may be set up to save to a different folder.
- Un-zip the file to folder where you will keep the program. You can do this by right-clicking on the file, and select “Extract All…”
- Open the Calypso software, then open the program you just saved by going to File > Open.
- Save the Setup Instructions file to your preferred folder. Then in Calypso, select Plan > Measurement run info for CNC start > Select… Select the Setup Instructions file to link it to the CMM program. (Now when you click User Information in the Run window, the Setup Instructions will open for your reference.)
Older version of Calypso label this menu item “User-definable measurement run info for CNC start”
- Build the stylus system(s) according to the setup instructions provided. IMPORTANT: Make sure the stylus system name matches exactly with the setup instructions.
- Qualify the stylus systems and assign them to the automatic probe changer, if applicable.
- Prepare the CMM fixture setup according to the setup instructions provided.
- Click on the Characteristics tab, then the Run button, as shown here.
- For this first run, make sure the Clear existing results is checked, and the alignment is set to Manual Alignment.
- Set the Result settings, if you prefer different results
- Keep the speed at 40 mm/s or less.
- If you are prompted for Input Parameters, enter the applicable values. For example, Order would correspond to a Job number, and Incremental Part Number would be sequential serial number for running multiple parts.
- Follow the prompts to manually align the part, using the CAD model as a guide.
- Run the program slowly, with your hand on the controller speed override dial, in case you need to slow down or pause the run.
- In the event of any unexpected movements or probing behavior, please report them to steven@learncmm.com to be addressed immediately.
